London Calling

My post today is devoted to the sweet reader of my block Lisa, who asked for my help in decorating her new home to London Vintage Decorating Style.

The favorite and timeless Vintage Decorating Style, is one of the most creative styles that you could choose for your spaces.

Not only for your home but Vintage is an ideal decorating style also for professional spaces that appeal to people with style and fantasy.

Depending on the theme that you want to focus at your Vintage Decorating Style, it will guide you for the colors and the shapes you need to follow.
Let’s see how you can create the vintage style with a focus on London’s details.

Color Palettes

The first thing you need to watch out for is the color gradation of the Londoners ornaments that you choose and especially at the union jack.

The colors should NOT be the “clean” colors such as: fire red, electric blue or white.

Colors in more outdated shades like beige, blue azure or matte burgundy, to help you catch the energy of the vintage feeling.

Fabrics

The fabrics that blend in with this decorating style are the natural linen in earthy shades, fabrics with bicolor stripes and fine quality leathers.

BEETLED NATURAL LINEN CANVAS
This medium weight linen has a slubby texture, but the beetling process has given it smooth and stiff handle, and a subtle lustre

NARROW BLACK STRIPE COTTON TICKING
Traditional cotton mattress ticking with a narrow black stripe and a slightly stiff handle

NATURAL MAROC CHERRY
The finest quality naturally tanned and dyed Goat skin leather.

Windows

For your windows you can choose between curtains, roller or panels by linen fabrics in natural tones.

Walls

For the walls choose 1-2 tons darker shade of the color you used on curtains or add brick even wallpaper with brick design or plaid wallpaper.

You can also make a themed wall, by changing the color to a darker shade and different from the other walls or pasting here the brick wallpaper.

This themed wall can host over some various objects or art with London-based influences.

Furniture

Any piece of furniture with the Union Jack creates a very strong first impression for the space. Dare it!

With London’s Vintage Decorating Style you can wonderfully fit old suitcases or chests that you can use as coffee or side tables.

Lighting

The oldest, the better! This is the secret for lighting in vintage decorating style.

Forget modern fixtures and technologies, visit flea markets and buy cheap lamps from the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Just make sure to refresh the wires if needed and change the old incandescent bulbs with economy leds.
